Title: Air Freight Market Update Report for Week 51

Dear Valued Customers and Industry Colleagues:

This Air Freight Market Update will be the last one published by Trans Global Logistics. Our parent company, Kintetsu World Express, has decided to cease the company’s operations at the end of January 2018. It has been a great run for TGL which has weathered a messy divorce from FDX, SARs, and financial crises in Asia and the US. Nonetheless the company overcame these adversities through strong customer and employee values. The Air Freight Update would not have been possible without the reporting by our local airfreight operators in Asia and the Indian Subcontinent, our customer service team in Hong Kong that compiled and edited the local reports and our marketing manager in Los Angeles who distributed the Updates each week.  Thank you for your support and wishing you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

Following are highlights from around our Asian network.

Hong Kong: Despite signs that the market is slowing, available space remains tight and rates persist at peak levels. Carriers are anticipating demand for space to remain strong through year end.

India: Major gateways continue to report strong demand and peak season price levels.

Indonesia: Demand for space to US gateways is strong and available space is tight.

Taiwan: There is a cargo backlog of approximately 250 tons at TPE. Demand for space to the US, Europe and Latin America remains strong and transit times continue to run longer than normal.

Thailand: Strong demand for space to US and European gateways and persistent congestion at transit hubs is creating longer than normal transit times. One week advance booking is required.

Sri Lanka: Despite a drop in demand at CMB, space issues at transit hubs have prompted most carriers to accept cargo bookings on Express service.

Vietnam: Local market conditions in HAN and SGN have improved slightly; however, congestion at transit hubs continues to buoy rate levels and extend transit times. One week advance booking is required.
